This is a poem from a former student, Mitchell Garner. Working with 3rd Eye Unlimited as well as other non-profits and educational organizations, Mitchell is an inspiring young man who speaks his truth to power. He’s also a poet and artist and a person who always has time to talk about the world, even though he’s involved in dozens of projects.
“GREEN BELIEF”
We don’t own this land this land owns us
Together we stand in the dollar bill we trust
Toxic guns formed from oil but no money to pay for gas
Our planet been hijacked and global warming is our crash
Really how long can this dictatorship last
Taking fresh water from country’s whose children are left to dry and pass
Mother nature having to worry about a nuclear bomb blast
Another question leading us to wonder how long this world will last
Going from fresh tree’s to building polluted factories
Pushing out Native’s into reservations the earth knows hell is waiting
Just think back to the land on were we live and shop
It once was surrounded by beautiful woods, which we chopped
Continue to chop not enough parking lots
More cars surrounded by dirty air what a thought
To say for the people by the people
Got me like the sun on the earth
Kind of hot like I’m living in a volcano spot
Lead by just another businessman on a plot
Tell me when will we be taught the three R’s of life
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and keep it precise?
